JOINTING PROCEDURE (jointing solvent cement)
- Cut
the pipe perpendicularly. Use fine pitch handsaw.
- Remove burrs using medium file. Chamfer the
end of the pipe at 2mm x 45° average.
- Mark the pipe and fitting to determine correct
preparation of the pipe socket.
- Clean contacting surfaces thoroughly with a clean rag and cleaning fluid.
- Using a clean brush, apply sufficient amount of solvent cement to pipe and fitting. The numbers of coat vary depending on the diameter
of the pipe and fitting. One or two coats are usually needed.
- Assemble joint immediately.
Hold pipe and fitting together for 15 seconds for 1/2" diameter
pipe and 60 seconds for an 8" diameter pipe. Avoid twisting the assembly. For joining a pipe size of
6" diameter or more, use a joining device to ensure full entry of spigot.
- Remove excess cement
